Solidarity Association for the Physically Disabled has been supporting Ahmet since he was nine years old. Ahmet is our own child. Ahmet Ucar is 24 years old now. We talked to Ahmet about the 15 years we spent.

-BEDD ile ne zaman tanıştınız?
BEDD ile Haydarpaşa Numune Hastanesi'nde 9 yaşındayken tanıştım. BEDD'de çalışan bir personel başka bir kurum mensubunu görmek için hastaneye gelmişti. Sonra BEDD ile tanıştım. Ameliyat oldum ve tekerlekli sandalye kullanmak zorunda kaldım. Ayağım kesilerek eve gidecektim. Hiçbir kurumdan destek almadım. Dernek ile görüşmeseydim bir daha yürüyemeyecektim. Dernek ile tanışmak hayatımın dönüm noktası oldu. Sonra Kemal Demirel ile tanıştım. Kemal Demirel kendi çocuğu gibi severdi. Her zaman destekçim olacağını söylerdi. Kemal Demirel tanıştığımız andan itibaren beni destekledi. Bugün 24 yaşındayım ve her zaman yanımda oldu. Hep engelliler için çalıştı.
-BEDD ile tanıştıktan sonra ne gibi destekler aldınız, hayatınızda neler değişti?
Meeting with The BEDD was the turning point of my life The association offered me all the support. The association made a prosthetic leg for my two legs. I continued life like a non-disabled person. I started walking to school. BEDD sent me on course. I went to college (Universty). BEDD gave me a scholarship. I completed my school with scholarship support.
When I was graduated, BEDD invited me to Istanbul and I came. Because I'm too far from my family. I have a lot of brothers and I have difficulty going to school because my family has economic problems. I finished school with the help of BEDD. I finished high school and primary school at Ağrı Doğubeyazı. I finished the university in Erzurum.For 15 years, all my needs were provided by BEDD. I wanted to study literature because I tread in Kemal Demirel'in footsteps. Dictation and writing art of Kemal Demirel is advancedI wanted to improve myself on everything like our president. I lived my life as a non-disabled person.
I've been running all my life without stopping.That's why myprosthetic legshad to be replaced.Again for this, BEDD supported me.
-What are the challenges of being people with disabled in Turkey?
In Turkey, there should be progress in this area.The law is not prepared for people with disabilities. Improvements should be made in transportation. Such associations are very important for people with disabilities. Because they facilitate the lives of people with disabilities. At my school, there are no regulations for people with disabilities. The biggest problem for me is transportation. In schools, people with disabilities should be given priority.
Disabled people want the most love.
-You have finished school with the scholarship of BEDD. What do you think about this subject?
Thanks to the scholarship of BEDD, I finished my school. I'm a college graduate right now.I want to give a scholarship to someone like me. BEDD made me sensitive.
-What do you think about BEDD?
Ben BEDD ile büyüdüm. BEDD benim ailem gibiydi. KEmal Demirel gibi olmak istiyorum. KEmal Demirel gibi engellilere yardım etmek istiyorum.Engellilerin dertlerini bilen biriyim. bu nedenle engelli insanlar için çalışmak istiyorum.
BEDD'in çalışmalarını seviyorum.
Kurumda her zaman güler yüzlü insanlar vardır. Bu benim için iyi. çok mutlu oluyorum Yani engelli insanların tek istediği bu.
